This Organization shall be known and called "Social Studies Educationists Association of Nigeria". Social Studies Educationists Association of Nigeria shall not be addressed by any other Name except the Name provided above and abbreviated as "SOSAN".

Our Motto: "Effective Citizenship and Service".
To associate Professionally with sisters Organizations in other parts of the World for the promotion of Social Studies and Civic Education by sharing in their experiences and by contributing as when necessary to the development of Social Studies and Civic Education in other parts of the World where needed.
Social Studies Educationists Association of Nigeria (SOSAN) aims to promote National Unity between all Citizens of Nigeria and the entire WORLD.
Social Studies Educationists Association of Nigeria (SOSAN) is an Organization of Learners, Teachers, and qualified Practitioners in the field and or accepted related disciplines.

It aims to promote the teaching, learning and understanding of Social Studies in Nigerian Schools.
We, the Members of the Social Studies Stakeholders Association of Nigeria (SOSAN) have firmly and solemnly resolved to Live in Unity and Harmony as one indivisible and indissoluble Members of one Body and Organization under God, dedicated to the promotion of National Unity, Peace and Effective Citizenship and Service of Nigeria as a Sovereign Nation

Notification and Cancellation of 2016 Conference

Dear Colleagues,

Due to the situation of the country, the National Excos of Social Studies Educationists Association of Nigeria (SOSAN) has reviewed the situation and come to the conclusion that in order to alleviate the financial burden of members, this year conference in Kontagora has been suspended.

However, members are encouraged to send their papers meant for the conference to SOSAN e-mail address ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) between 12th October, 2016 and 30th January, 2017.

We are also happy to inform you that four (4) journal- outlets (Nigerian Journal of Social Studies {NJSS}; Nigerian Journal of Civic Education {NJCE}; Nigerian Journal of Social Research {NJSR} and African Journal of Social Studies {AJSS}) have been approved for SOSAN and members are enjoined to patronise these outlets. Call for paper for each of the journal outlets is on the homepage of the Association's website (sosan.org.ng).

For 2016 journal, this will be published as usual by the end of November and Contributors to the edition are hereby reminded to pay the publication fee of 15,000:00 to the Association Account.
